     Hiring Process:

  • Submission of application
  • Background Investigation
  • Polygraph Examination
  • Conditional Offer of Employment
  • Physical/Medical Screening
  • Drug Screening
  • Psychological Examination (if a new hire out of academy or an officer with more than 180 days break in service
  • Formal Employment offer and signing of paperwork
  • 12 week FTO Program and upon completion a 6 month probationary period.

     Benefits

  • $30,000 a year starting salary for officers hired out of the academy.  Pay increases to $31,000 upon successful completion of FTO.  Officers hired with experience may obtain an increased salary up to    $34,000 DOQ.
  • Uniforms, duty weapon (Glock Mdl. 22), bullet proof vest, holster and magazine pouch provided
  • Medical through TML provided free to employee
  • Optional dental, vision, life and family medical available if elected
  • Retirement through TMRS.  A 2 to 1 payout upon retirement from City.
  • Optional retirement plans available through Nationwide Retirement Systems
  • 2 weeks vacation
  • 5 days holiday that can be taken as additional "vacation" days
  • 8 hours a month sick time
