The Dalhart Police Department does not require experience as a basis of employment and readily accepts applications from applicants currently enrolled in a TCLEOSE approved Law Enforcement Academy.

Hiring
Process:
- Submission of application
- Background Investigation
- Physical Agility Assessment
- Report Writing Skills Assessment
- Preliminary Interview with Patrol Supervisors
- Chief of Police Interview
- Physical/Medical Screening
- Drug Screening
- Psychological Examination (if a new hire out of
academy or an officer with more than 180 days break in service
- Formal Employment offer and signing of paperwork
- 12 to 14 week FTO Program and upon completion a 6
month probationary period.
